First UMPCs: Founder Mininote

Chinese vendor Founder was the third official Microsoft partner to launch Mininote UMPC at Cebit. Unlike other UMPCs - Samsung Q1 and Asus R2H, which had only one configuration, Founder Mininote UMPCs already has 6 different configurations with prices and specs available from their site. Founder Mininote UMPC will have:

Processor: Intel Pentium Celeron M ULV (900 MHz) or Intel Pentium M ULV (1GHz) (Dothan core)
Chipset & Graphics: Intel ® 915 GMs
Memory: 256MB/512MB DDRII memory
LCD: 7” WVGA (800 x 480)
Storage: 1.8” SFF HDD 30~60 GB
Communications: 10/100 Ethernet, WLAN (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth
Camera: 1.3 megapixel camera
Battery: 3.5Hrs 3 cell Li-ion Standard Battery,
Weight:
830 g
Dimensions: 225.5mm (W) x 144mm (D) x 23/25mm (H)

Founder Mininote UMPCs will come in two colors - red and black and will cost:

  • Entry level Founder Mininote VUM400-410 UMPC with Celeron M ULV processor, 256MB of RAM and 30GB HDD - 7999 Yuan ($997),
  • mid level Founder Mininote UMPC with Intel Pentium M ULV processor, 256MB RAM and 30 GB HDD - 11999 Yuan ($1495)
  • high end Founder Mininote UMPC with Intel Pentium M ULV processor, 512MB RAM and 60 GB HDD - 12888 Yuan ($1606)

Unfortunately, these UMPCs will be sold only in Asia.
