New Core Duo’s from Lenovo - 3000 N100 series notebooks

Lenovo has ambitions to become a serious player worldwide in laptop business. After purchasing IBM’s PC business it has been busy upgrading their ThinkPad notebook line to compete in high end notebook business. However ThinkPads are pretty expensive computers, commanding price premium for the brand name, design and additional reliability features.


To compete in a price sensitive laptop market segment Lenovo will be leveraging distribution assets it got from IBM for the new cheaper notebook line - Lenovo 3000 notebook series. It has already released a number of cheap, under $1000 3000C series notebooks. Now Chinese vendor is readying the launch of more advanced Core Duo notebooks - Lenovo 3000 N100 14.1 and 15.4 ” widescreen laptops.

Lenovo 3000 N100 laptops will feature:

  • Intel Core Duo processor T2300(1.66GHz), T2400(1.83GHz), T2500(2GHz), 750(1.86GHz), P M 760(2.0GHz), P M 770(2.13GHz), Intel Core Solo processor T1300(1.6GHz)
  • 256MB, 512MB, 1GB and support up to 2GB maximum memory
  • 40GB, 60GB, 80GB, or 100GB hard drive sizes
  • 14.1″ and 15.4″ TFT widescreen displays
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset (up to 128MB), 64MB nVidia GeForce Go 7300-64, 128MB nVidia GeForce Go 7300-128
  • CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW/DVD, or CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner drives
  • Lenovo 802.11abg wireless, Intel 802.11abg wireless
  • Lithium Ion 6 or 9 cell battery configurations
  • Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Home, or Windows Media Center Edition

No price information is available yet, but we are sure that these Lenovo 3000 N100 series will be serious competitors to similar Dell and Gateway offerings.
