Fujitsu Lifebook B8220 ultralight notebook

in: Uncategorized

It seems that Fujitsu has overcome its problems with the supply of new Intel Core chips and is ready to update it’s full line of Lifebook business laptop series. Akihabara news reports that new Core Duo Lifebook S, B, Q H, E and C series are ready to be launched. So far mainly in Japan, but Global market versions should follow soon. One of the more interesting laptops among them is ultralight Fujitsu Lifebook B8220 with:

Intel Core Solo U1400 1.20 GHz processor
12. XGA (1024×768) screen
512 MB of RAM
20 GB HDD
Wi-fi a/g
Windows XP Pro, Home or Tablet PC OS

The key feature for this laptop is it’s portability - it weights only 1.19 kg as is 3 cm thick. Other goodies include built in fingerprint reader and touch screen with the stylus for alternative user input option.

Fujitsu B8220 laptop is priced at 167 000 Yen ($1407 US$). Even though the price is not high for this ultraportable, overall specs seem rather lame with only 1.2GHz Core solo chip, 20GB HDD, and 512MB of memory.

However, like with another Fujitsu ultraportable - Q2010, in a few months it should be able to get faster Core Duo ULV chips. With the release of Lifebook B8220 to the wider world, 60GB 1.8″ hard drive and 1GB single chip DDR memory could be added and for what we estimate a little over $2000 you should be able to get a great ultraportable laptop.
