Niche Ubuntu Linux laptop and desktop PC manufacturer System 76 is working on a new ultraportable laptop line, called Darter. This Ubuntu notebook should be released within a month.

System 76 Darter Ubuntu laptop is a 3,5 cm thick 13″ great looking white ultraportable that weights a bit over four pounds and has 5 hours battery life, with a price starting below $1000:

The prototype model of Darter laptop was spotted by a sharp user during one conference in the beginning of this year. He actually e-mailed System 76 his dream specs and got the opportunity to buy this laptop before the official release date. The model pictured above has:

• 1.5 GB DDR2 667 MHz
• 60 GB 7200 RPM
• Intel 802.11 a/b/g Wireless
• Bluetooth
• SD Card slot
