So you are ready to shell out some serious bucks to upgrade you Home Multimedia Center. But there’s that damn High Definition format war going on between Blu Ray and HD DVD camps. What if you pick wrong and in a few years are stuck with modern Betamax VCR equivalent?
Fear no more. Okoro Media Systems comes to the rescue with the introduction of 2 new Home Media Center PCs (HTPC) - BX100 and BX300 - that are able to read both Blue Ray and HD DVD discs from a single drive.

Okoro BX100 is a simpler machine that starts at $2995 and comes equipped with:
- Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile T7200 2.0 GHz CPU
- 2Gb of DDR2 RAM
- Window Vista Ultimate operating system
- 500Gb SATA storage
- Blu-ray/HD-DVD Combo Drive
- HDCP output via Nvidia 8500GT graphics board
- Analog and ATSC High Definition Tuner
More advanced Okoro BX300 costs from $3595 and has:
- Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz CPU
- 2GB of DDR2 memory: at 667 GHz
- Window Vista Ultimate operating system
- 1 Terabyte of SATA storage
- Blu-ray/HD-DVD Combo Drive
- HDCP output via Nvidia 8600GTS graphics board
- Dual Analog and Dual ATSC High Definition Tuners
Certainly, Okoro BX300 and BX100 are not cheap. But if you want a cheap PC you’ll probably settle with Ubuntu Dell Dimension E520n, and won’t go looking for the most powerfully HTPC around.

None in this model, unfortunately.
I don’t think Okoro has anything with Cable Cards yet.
If you want HTPC with cablecard, S1Digital has them coming:
