Toshiba Portege R500 gets 3.5G HSDPA Upgrade

Toshiba Portege R500 ultra slim ultra-portable notebook is already generating rave reviews all around the tech world.

But soon Toshiba R500 will get even better with full 3.5G HSDPA upgrade. Some sources have originally hinted that 3.5G HSDPA equipped Portege R500 may come out in Q4, just for the Christmas season.

Now it looks like that may happen earlier, since Toshiba Portege R500 notebook with a installed Cell-PCS radio module supporting GSM, GPRS, EGPRS, WCDMA and WCDMA+HSDPA has already been approved by FCC.

So, soon Toshiba Portege R500 will feature:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 1.20 GHz CPU
  • 1024 - 2048 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
  • 12.1″ WXGA 1280×800px Display
  • Intel GMA950
  • 120 GB 5400 rpm SATA HDD or
  • 32GB or 64 GB SSD drives
  • DVD Super multi (+/-R) drive
  • Intel Wi-Fi a/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.0 EDR
  • Wireless 3.5G GSM, GPRS, EGPRS, WCDMA, WCDMA+HSDPA module

With cool looks, ultra long battery life, weight starting at 1.72 pounds (0.78 kg) and now full range of wireless connectivity options, it’s hard to find something not to like about Toshiba Portege R500.
